Jim Mosquera joins General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
(13 November 2017 - General Atomics) General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) announced today that Jim Mosquera has joined the organization as vice president and Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Mr. Mosquera will be responsible for achieving strategic technical, business and financial objectives in support of technology, platform, and next generation product development. Mr. Mosquera will lead the development and management of technology roadmaps that execute growth opportunities in the markets served by GA-EMS.

Mr. Mosquera has held director and program management positions as a federal civilian and naval officer working for the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (Naval Reactors), a joint program of the Navy and Department of Energy responsible for the application and oversight of nuclear reactor power and propulsion for approximately 80 warships, 100 reactor plants, and other projects. As program manager of Advanced Technology Development, Mr. Mosquera worked with senior Navy and Department of Defense leadership to set priorities through the end of the 21st Century, guiding science, technology, and research and development strategies focused on at-sea experimentation, undersea platforms, and manned and unmanned systems. In the position of Director, Reactor Plant Components & Auxiliary Equipment, he was responsible for all design, development, procurement, manufacturing, maintenance, and cost reductions associated with government and contractor furnished equipment, including new designs for Ford-Class aircraft carriers. Under special assignment, Mr. Mosquera also led the Space Shuttle Columbia Accident Investigation Board Independent Assessment Team providing technical expertise, counsel, and oversight of selected NASA work and participated in writing the final report.
Mr. Mosquera holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago and graduated with honors. He is also a graduate from the Naval Reactors Bettis Reactor Engineering School. Mr. Mosquera received the Presidential Rank Award of Meritorious Executive, and the NASA Exceptional Achievement Medal and Group Achievement Award.
