Search and recovery of Soyuz-2 launch vehicle stages continue
(17 February 2020 - Roscosmos) Specialists continue to work to recover fragments of the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle.
The launch vehicle successfully lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on February 7, 2020.
The rocket stages have been loated and are bwing recovered from drop zones in Sverdlovsk Oblast and the Khanty-Mansiisk autonomous district.
So far the second stage oxidizer tank including the transfer truss and instrument module weighing about 2 tons have been recovered. Payload fairing fragments and the tail section of the third stage were also recovered from the same drop zone. A parallel recovery operation was also completed on February 12, 2020 in another drop zone in Kazakhstan.
All the four of the Soyuz-2.1b's strap-on boosters were located in their designated drop zone and have been recovered.
